Michael David Pipe, born on March 5th, 1959, passed peacefully on August 25th, 2022, in his 63rd year and 6th year post double lung transplant, surrounded by his family. Mike completed his battle with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis after acute complications of his illness with strength, determination, and bravery every step of the way. A son of two Canadian war heroes, Ernest Pipe and Hilda Flipping Pipe, and a fiercely proud Montrealer, Michael’s force and light shine in his beloved wife and partner of 44 years, Sylvia Lee, and his children Olivia and Zachary, as well as his cherished granddaughter Rosalie Hazel. Michael is survived by his closest sister Sharon, nephews Shayne, Michael (Allison) and Sean (Nadine), as well as many other family members.
Born and bred in Montreal, Mike grew up in Hochelaga-Maisonneuve, where he spent fond memories at the Boys and Girls Club. He loved playing sports, a trait he imparted onto his children, and was a dedicated member of the Sun Life community, where he worked as an IT Analyst for over 40 years. In his later years, Mike enjoyed spending time with his family the most, and loved to be in the kitchen, having taken up an avid interest in baking. Mike’s smile lit up every room, and his presence will be felt every time there is a breeze on a warm temperate day.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, September 17th from 1-4pm at La Maison Darche, 7679 Taschereau Blvd, Brossard, Quebec J4Y 1A2.
If so desired, donations can be made in Mike’s memory to the Fondation CHUM’s Organ Transplant Unit here: https://fondationduchum.com/en/ways-to-give/ .
