Wilma June Burbury passed away peacefully entering the presence of the Lord at the Sturgill Hospice House on September 26, 2023 having had a devastating stroke several days previously. She was 91 years of age born on June 9, 1932 in Presque Isle, Maine.
She is lovingly remembered by her children, Wanda Oliver (George) of Brooksville, Florida, Carolyn McElhinney (David) of Grand Bay-Westfield, New Brunswick, Canada, Elaine Ingersoll (Karl) of Grand Manan, New Brunswick, Canada, Warren Burbury (Patricia) of Grand Manan, New Brunswick, Canada; 12 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, William "Bill" Burbury on July 31, 2020; two sisters, Geraldine Whitaker and Helena Dunlavey. She has three surviving sisters, Roberta Hagerman of Brunswick, Maine, Marilyn Lunny (Gene) of Presque Isle, Maine, and Diane Smith of Sanford, Florida.
Wilma was raised on the family farm outside of Presque Isle, Maine to parents Wilmont and Violy Jordan. Wilma was used to working hard and making family a priority. In her adult life she found great joy in raising her family, being active in her church, supporting her husband in his educational and professional pursuits, working for years in the office at Bethany Bible College (Kingsworth University), being active in the great outdoors, cross country skiing and working in her flower gardens.
Wilma and Bill’s final twenty-four years were spent in Brooksville, Florida enjoying an active retirement. In their final years with declining health, they were especially blessed to have their oldest daughter Wanda (George) close by for loving support and assistance.
Wilma and Bill’s ashes will be buried in the family plot at the Fairmont Cemetery in Presque Isle, Maine.
