He was born on August 14, 1928, in Conneaut, Ohio, the son of Wm. Miller and Helen (Watson) Waddle.
William served in the United States Army as a Sergeant First Class during the Korean War where he received the Korean Service Medal with two Bronze Service Stars. Following his service in the military he began his career with the Illuminating Company in Ashtabula, Ohio where he worked his way up to a Line Supervisor, retiring in 1983.
William married the love of his life, Mary Jane Waddle and they spent many wonderful years together prior to her passing in 1978. William moved to Brooksville, Florida in 1984 to escape the Ohio winters and enjoyed so much that Florida living had to offer. He loved the community of Brooksville, spending time with friends having breakfast at Hardees, and working. He mowed lawns for neighbors and friends right up to his 94th year. He was hardworking, a kind friend and neighbor and the sharpest 94 year old you would ever meet; sharing his thoughts on artificial intelligence even just weeks prior to his passing.
He is survived by his loving family and friends: his best friend, PJ Wernicke; his sister-in-law, Mary Ann Waddle; his nephew, Todd (Cindy) Waddle; his grand nephews, Ethan and Colin; his nieces, Eva Sue Lesko, Shirley Harco and Peggy Harco; and several close Waddle cousins.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jane Waddle, his parents and his brother, Richard E. Waddle.
In honor of his wishes there will be no formal service. Memorial contributions can be made in his name to Lighthouse Harvest Foundation of Ashtabula.
