BUSSA, W.C., 85 was born to William Chester (Sr.) and Minnie May (Welch) Bussa on April 1, 1927 at 1821 Jackson Ave. in Portsmouth, OH. He was the oldest of their five children. After moving to Friendship, at the age of eight years, he started taking piano lessons from his Aunt Catherine (Bussa) and by the fall of that year started playing for the services at the Turkey Creek Freewill Baptist Church (Nile Township, OH.). He enlisted in the Navy during World War II and after basic training was stationed on the island of Saipan, M.I. The War shortly ended and he returned home to attend Asbury College at Wilmore, KY, where he majored in piano and composition. On returning home he married Miss Freda Mae Fannin, her Dad was the pastor of the Christian Baptist Church at Dogwood Ridge in Wheelersburg, OH. Before marriage both became members of the First Pilgrim Holiness Church in Portsmouth, OH. They had five children that sang in revival services with them around the area. Chester studied and earned a "Commissioned Special worker" in the Wesleyan Church. He was employed by the General Telephone Company and retired after 34 years. They traveled in all the continental states with their children. After retirement they were privileged to travel in all 50 states and into 50 countries and islands. Eight missionary trips were included. Chester and Freda spent the last of their years living in the Wesleyan village where they found many opportunities to continue their work for the Kingdom of God. One of the most unexpected was the development of the village e-mail that was used to send newsletters to all those requesting it. Chester was an accomplished pianist and spent many hours practicing all through his life. He always had a number of "fans" that loved to hear him play. He had several other hobbies during his life, but the favorite hobby became working with amateur radio. He loved computers and working on the website for the village residents so they could receive e-mails. Chester is survived by his loving and faithful wife, Freda. They recently celebrated their 63rd anniversary in July. Chester is also survived by 2 daughters: Ruth Ann & Jerry Foster of Tazewell, VA; Mary Sue & Kenneth Burchett of Frankfort, OH; 2 sons: Paul Ray & Cindy Bussa of Marion, OH; Mark Lee Bussa (Rob Hampton) of Austin, TX; 9 grandchildren: Stephen Scott Foster of Christiansburg, VA; Michael Ray Burchett of Greenfield, OH; Kimberly Sue Oyer of Frankfort, OH; Stephanie Kay Dillon of Pocahontas, VA; Matthew Paul Bussa of Columbus,OH; Kristina Rose Dalton of Frankfort, OH; Jessica Dawn Bussa of Marion, OH; Holly Danielle Bussa & Hanna Michelle Bussa of Fremont, NE; great grandchildren: T.J. & Sarah Foster, Emily Colburn, Katie Dillon, Kyla, Josiah & Kaelin Burchett, rebecca and Bradley Oyer, Destinie, Kenton, Danessa, Kolton & Kimberlyn Dalton. 2 brothers: Don & Geneva Bussa of Circleville, OH; Larry & Marge Bussa of Minford, OH; 2 sisters: Doris & Jack Born; Pat & Dale Humphrey of Circleville,OH; He was preceded in death by his father: William Chester Bussa, Sr., mother: Minnie Mae Welch Bussa; grandparents: Wheeler C.
