He was born March 14, 1935 in Braddock, Pennsylvania and came to Brooksville 41 years ago from St. Petersburg, Florida. He served in the United States Army and was a painter by trade. He was a faithful servant to the Lord and his quiet faith spoke volumes to those who knew him. As a parishioner of St. Anthony the Abbot Catholic Church he dedicated much of his time to the church’s maintenance and renovation projects, served as an usher, and was a Third-Degree Knights of Columbus member.
Tom was a kind and loving husband, father (Daddy) and grandfather (Dedo). He loved spending time with his family and enjoyed making us laugh. He was a very hard worker and taught his family the value of working hard. He was always coming up with new ideas and inventions that solved problems both at work and in everyday life.
He enjoyed being outside, the Smoky mountains, flowers, and could spot a four-leaf clover within seconds. His favorite season was Christmas. He enjoyed music and was always ready to get up and dance with his wife. He loved to eat, especially chocolate ice cream and candy, and was always the last one at the table savoring every morsel (his own and ours).
He is preceded in death by his daughter, Karen Lee Zoretic and son, Todd James Zoretic. He is survived by his loving wife, Karen; sons and daughters-in-law, David & Jeannette Zoretic and Thomas Allen & Lauren Zoretic; daughter and son-in-law, Sharon & James Peters; daughter-in-law, Jennifer Zoretic; Brother and sister-in-law, Robert & Sue Zoretic; ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
A Visitation for family and friends will be held from 6:00pm-8:00pm, Friday, March 8, 2019 at Merritt Funeral Home, Brooksville Chapel, where the Service will begin at 7:00pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:30am, Saturday, March 9, 2019 at St. Anthony the Abbot Catholic Church, with Reverend Paul Pecchie officiating. Burial will follow at Brooksville Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Anthony the Abbot Catholic Church.
