He was born August 9, 1937 in Bradenton, Florida and came to this area 40 years ago from Sarasota, Florida. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and went on to become a Senior Water Resource Scientist for Swiftmud, Adjunct Professor at Pasco Hernando Community College, St. Leo University and International University, a past Deacon and Elder of the Church of Christ and past member of Brooksville Regional Hospital Advisory Board. He was a huge University of Florida Gator Fan as well as a past Hernando Youth League (HYL) Assistant Baseball Coach and a past member of Family Motor Coach Association (FMCA).
He is preceded in death by his daughter, Michelle Perry. He is survived by his wife, Elaine Perry; son, Kevin Gerald Perry; daughter, Bethany Perry Gavish of Spring Hill, Florida; sister, Pamela Turney of St. Petersburg, Florida; grandchildren, Baylie, Ashley, Brandon, Abby and Bryson.
A Visitation for family and friends to take place from 1:00-2:00pm, Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at Merritt Funeral Home, Brooksville Chapel, where Funeral Services will begin at 2:00pm, with Pastor Arlen Chapman and Pastor James Coker officiating. A Reception will follow at the Rising Sun Bistro. Burial will be private at Florida Hills Memorial Gardens.
