He was born in Randolph, Vermont on December 1, 1932 and graduated from People's Academy in Morrisville, Vermont. He was married to the late Beatrice Baker Peck on December 22, 1951. He served in the United States Army National Guard during the Korean War.
He began his early married years as a milk delivery man for his uncle's Winona Dairy in New Hampshire. He later became fascinated by "big rigs" and drove for Sealtest Ice Cream in South Portland, Maine for many years. He served as the Shop Steward for the Teamsters Union while employed there. When Sealtest closed, he went to work for the US Postal Service, where he delivered and picked up mail at the airport in Portland, Maine. He retired from the USPS in 1998 and moved to Florida.
He was a civic minded and family man. He was an active member of the Jaycees for many years and served as a Cub Scout leader.
He loved traveling and was an avid camper, hiker, and outdoorsman.
He was musically inclined from a young age, playing drums in his own band in High School. He continued dabbling in drumming at home right up until his last year. He hugely enjoyed listening to music, the 50's in particular, and attended many shows by artists of that Era.
He enjoyed car racing of all kinds. Everything from NASCAR, to his son's go-kart and stock car racing, and daughter and son-in-law’s vintage car racing.
He was a loving father and husband, creating many family traditions over the years. He loved family gatherings above all. We were privileged to have many.
He was a great story teller. He could keep children in wide eyed anticipation while telling his "spooky" stories and would have adults in tears and uproarious laughter over his tales of youthful misadventure.
He is predeceased by his wife of 67 years, Beatrice Peck; his son, Gregory; and daughter, Jennifer. He is survived by his daughters, Wanda Turkowski of Brooksville, Florida, Nancy Peck of Scarborough, Maine, and Patti Eastman (Kim) of Standish, Maine; son, Richard B. Peck of Fryeburg, Maine; grandsons, Michael Merrill of New Port Richey, Florida and Jonathan Turkowski of Spring Hill, Florida. Also survived by his brothers, Ronnie Peck (Peggy) of New York and Roger Peck (Verna) of Brooksville Florida; his beloved cat, BeaBea; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial and burial will take place in the Summer of 2024 at the family plot in Lake Elmore, Vermont.
