Philip “Phil” Michael Prouty, age 61, of Spring Hill, FL, passed away on February 29th, 2024. He was born in Rockville Centre, NY on August 30th, 1962. He spent his early years in Smithtown, NY until his family moved to Charlestown, NH, where he grew up. Phil graduated from Fall Mountain Regional High School in 1980, and afterwards attended Keene State College. He was married to the love of his life, Sherri Prouty, on August 27th, 1988.
A fourth generation Pentecostal preacher, Phil was credentialed and ordained as an Evangelist with the Assemblies of God in 1997, and actively preached throughout churches in New England and Florida. When asked what his definition of being an evangelist was, Phil answered by saying “My role is to be the book of Acts in operation. To see people saved, healed, delivered, set free and for the church - the saints of God - to get stirred up in their spirit-man!” Phil epitomized this definition every time he was behind the pulpit, during prayer meetings, leading baptism services, and in his daily walk with the Lord. He was a faithful member of Grace World Outreach Church in Brooksville, FL for over 24 years, where he served in several capacities. He was widely known in the church for his charismatic water baptisms.
Phil’s longest working tenure was at Regional Rehab in Spring Hill, FL, where he was an Office & Finance Manager for the past 18 years. He was loved and respected by his work family and patients alike. Phil was truly a light and inspiration within the office, where he spread the light of Jesus and never failed to do his daily tasks with enthusiasm.
Actively involved in a local tennis group, Phil was passionate and competitive and built many friendships, as well as friendly rivalries. He was a competitive spirit in every sport he played, and enjoyed staying active. He loved sports and was a die hard Yankees fan since childhood. He enjoyed being outdoors, whether it was for chores around the house or recreational activities such as swimming or bike riding.
He loved his family and always put them first. He would dedicate quality time with his wife Sherri, and sons, Matthew and Andrew. He enjoyed playing outdoors often with his three grandsons, Avery, Everett, and Oliver.
Phil is survived by his wife of 35 years, Sherri Prouty; their oldest son, Matthew Prouty and his wife, Mckenna, along with their three children, Avery, Everett, and Oliver; their youngest son Andrew Prouty and his wife Amaris; his mother, Natalie Prouty; his sister, Debra Gay and her husband Doug; niece, Leeanne Coutts and her husband William and their children, Benji and Bowen; and his nephew Lucas Hamel; along with many loving in-laws and extended family.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at Grace World Outreach Church, with a visitation from 11am-12pm, and service from 12pm-1pm.
