Mr. Paul E. Phillips, 91, of Weeki Wachee, Florida, and former resident of Toledo, Ohio, passed away on June 15, 2021 after a brief illness, surrounded by his wife and loved ones. Paul and Delores lived life fully! They enjoyed travel, golf, snowmobile trips, dancing, family and friend time, creating and making memories.
Paul was an avid golfer and sports fan. He was a member of Heatherdowns Country Club, Toledo, Ohio and Glen Lakes Country Club, Weeki Wachee, Florida. He was a longtime season-ticketholder for the University of Michigan football. Paul, a 1948 graduate of Libbey High School, was a member of the 1947 City League champion football team and achieved second team all-conference center.
Following high school graduation, Paul attended the University of Toledo and served as a Sergeant in the Ohio National Guard. Paul was employed as a Process Engineer at Toledo GM Powertrain and later sold automobile stamping dies for several manufacturers throughout the Midwest.
A well-traveled man within the Masonic Fraternity, Paul was a 49-year member of Damascus-Collingwood Masonic Lodge #643 F&AM, Thrice Potent Master in the Lodge of Perfection and received the highest degree of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite, 33rd degree. He was coroneted on September 24, 1991 in Indianapolis. Paul was also a member of the Zenobia Shrine and Jester Court.
In retirement Paul and Delores, his devoted wife of 55 years, cherished their Florida community and met many friends while they continued to enjoy golf and travel. Paul highly valued education and was proud to tell of his children’s advanced degrees and career successes.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Beulah and Vasile Phillips, his first wife and the mother of his two sons, his four brothers; Charles, Eugene, Howard, and Ray, and son-in-law Edward Stevenson. He is survived by his wife Delores, children, Terry (Vicki) Phillips, Tim (Katreice) Phillips and Sheri Stevenson; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 24 at 10 a.m. at Merritt Funeral Home, 4095 Mariner Blvd, Spring Hill Florida. A reception for family and friends will be at Glen Lakes Country Club following the memorial service.
