Michael J. Gennusa

GENNUSA, Michael J., age 70 of Spring Hill, Florida passed away from COVID on Sunday January 17, 2021 at Oak Hill Hospital.  He was born October 28, 1950 in Brooklyn, New York.  He came to Spring Hill, FL  30 years ago from Farmingville, New York.  He was a proud U.S. Army veteran, a Sanitation Engineer for the City of New York, a YMCA member and Coach along with many years coaching Soccer with the First Hernando Youth Soccer League.  He loved his Wednesday night poker games with the guys and going to the casino.    He also loved his New York METS!   He was always the last to leave the dance floor and the first to sing karaoke.  He was the life at every party and was friends with everyone that crossed his path.    His favorite vacations were cruising with his wife Helen or spending time at any beach. 

Mike was known everywhere he went because he was friends with everyone and willing to help anyone. 

He was preceded in death by his oldest son: Michael J. Gennusa, Jr and his daughter Maria Renee whom he often referred to as his Christmas Angel.  He is survived by his loving wife of almost 47 years, Helen along with his Sons and Daughters-in-Love; Anthony and Sally, Brian and Jennifer, Jason, Gregory and Danielle.  He was adored by his grandchildren Jordan, Ariana, Kennady, Brianna and soon to be born twins Chance and Hailey (grandpa was the best belly rubber to the twins) along with his many Honorary Children and Grandchildren and his precious dog Princess who adored him.   He leaves behind his broken-hearted brothers and sister-in-law’s; Louis and Camille Gennusa; Salvatore, Jr.  and Angela Gennusa; and his sisters and brother-in-law’s; Catherine and Thomas Scott and Margaret and Joe Cucchiara. 

A graveside service with military honors will be conducted at 1pm, Monday January 25, 2021 at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Florida.  We are blessed to have so many wonderful memories with such a great loving, kind, helpful man ……. And we all know he will “Save a Place for Me”
