Mary Ann Hillen

Mary Ann was born on February 9, 1940 to George and Eunice Shirbroun in Coon Rapids, Iowa.  She graduated from Miltonvale Wesleyan Academy and was a graduate from Asbury School of Nursing. She married her high school sweetheart on November 23, 1962 at Waite Park Wesleyan Church in Minneapolis, Minnesota.  She worked at Lutheran Deaconess Hospital and Bloomington Lake Clinic.  She retired from nursing when the children arrived and she became a devoted wife and mother.  They transferred for Don's work to Cincinnati, Ohio in 1966 and welcomed their first child Mary Michele in June of 1967.  They returned to Minneapolis and in September of 1968 Michael Donald arrived followed by Marcia Lynn in September of 1974.  In 1978 the family transferred to San Diego, California before returning to Burnsville in 1980 where they currently reside.  In addition to raising her family she was involved in Bible Study Fellowship.  She enjoyed spending time with her husband, children and grandchildren and supporting their various activities.  She loved cooking, hosting family gatherings and spending winters at the Wesleyan Village in Florida for the past 18 years where she enjoyed many wonderful friendships.  

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Donald P. Hillen; son and daughter-in-law, Michael & Jodi Hillen of Burnsville, Minnesota; daughters and sons-in-law, Michele & Rolf Christenson of Chaska, Minnesota and Marcia & Richard Hires of Windsor, Connecticut; brothers and sister-in-law, Franklin & Teresa Shirbroun of Seattle, Washington and John Shirbroun of Tipton, Indiana; grandchildren, Brandon Christenson (Hannah), Brittany Christenson, Bennett Christenson, Bethany Hillen, Joshua Hillen, Jonathan Hillen, Audrey Hires and Lauren Hires.

The Memorial Service will be held at 10:00am, Tuesday, March 10th at Brooksville Wesleyan Church with a Visitation for family and friends preceding the service at 9:30am.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial gifts to Brooksville Wesleyan Church or Wesleyan Village.
