He was born August 29, 1938 in Columbus, Ohio and moved to Whigham, Georgia in 1990 from Brooksville, Florida. He proudly served in the United States Navy and was the owner of Shaw’s Service Station and Shaw’s Salvage, both of Brooksville, Florida. He was a member of First Lutheran Church of Ridge Manor West, an avid “N” Gauge train hobbyist, a true gentleman, farmer, grew his own blueberries, loved hunting and fishing and tinkering with his tractor on the farm.
He is preceded in death by his parents: Lester & Ada Shaw and his brothers: Lester Shaw and Myron Shaw. He is survived by his wife: Norma; sons and daughters-in-law: Mark & Maureen Blanton of Brooksville, Florida and David & Pamela Shaw of Hernando Beach, Florida; six grandchildren: Nikki (Lenny) Serrano, Stephen (Laura) Blanton, Matthew (Katie Killingsworth) Blanton, Mindi Shaw, Allison (Kenny) Penny, Caitlin Shaw-Ferland; nine great-grandchildren: Isabella, Gabriel, Xavier, Adrian, Carter, Warner, Lillian, Violet, Elijah.
A Visitation for family and friends will be held at 11:00am-1:00pm, Thursday, February 15, 2018 at Merritt Funeral Home, Brooksville Chapel, where funeral services will begin at 1:00pm, with Bruce Asbel officiating. Burial to follow at Myrtle Hill Cemetery, Tampa, Florida.
