LaRue was born on April 24, 1946, in Washington D.C., and raised in Davidsonville, MD. LaRue enriched the lives of those around her with her infectious smile, laugh, and boundless spirit.
Throughout her life, LaRue embraced adventure and exploration. She traveled the world, delighting in new experiences and cultures. A talented seamstress, she poured her creativity into crafting beautiful quilts and other works of art. Her love for crafting extended to various hobbies, including cooking, gardening, antiquing, and thrifting. LaRue had an eye for design and enjoyed organizing and decorating spaces to reflect her unique style.
LaRue was a trailblazer in her career, breaking barriers as the first female UPS driver in her county and excelling in diverse roles as a waitress, interior decorator, real estate agent, and stockbroker. Her determination and intelligence allowed her to succeed in any endeavor she pursued.
Above all, LaRue cherished her family and the joy they brought to her life. She leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter. She is preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Richard; great-grandson, Noah Mattix; and two brothers, Kenneth Wayson and David Wayson. She is survived by her three children, Dennis Drake, C. Michelle Hale, and Eric Powell; five grandchildren, Kelly Hale, Nicole Mattix, Rachel Drake Burdick, Nikko Powell, and Derek Powell; five great-grandchildren, Dante Hale, Izaiah Hale, Andrew Powell, Jeremiah Powell, and Giovanni Powell; and sister, Ann Kwiatkowski.
LaRue will be deeply missed but forever remembered for her kindness, warmth, happiness, and unwavering positivity.
