HUNT, Kenneth Lloyd, 78, of Brooksville, FL and from Bragg City, MO passed away Thursday, March 21, 2019 at the Sturgill Hospice Care Center in Brooksville after a battle with pneumonia and lung and heart complications. Kenny, as he was known to friends and family, was born February 25, 1941 to the late William C. and Allie (King) Hunt. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Carroll, Billy Joe, and Paul. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Doctor Frankie “Bunny” Hunt of Brooksville; a son and daughter-in-law, Rocky & Brenda Hunt of Moscow, TN; a daughter, Tammy Hunt of Austin TX; sisters, Kathryn Brents and Athol Adams of AR, and Carolyn Gill of GA; and by his grandchildren, Tyler Nichols, Taylor Nichols, Katie Hunt and Stone Hunt.
Kenny was a dedicated and devoted Husband, Father, Brother, Grandfather and Friend. An All-American Basketball player as well as an all-around athlete, he set the National College record for most consecutive free throws (47) in 1959. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army as a Military Policeman training military dogs. Kenny dedicated 40 years of his life to educating and impacting the lives of countless youth, serving as a Principal, Athletic Director, Coach, and Teacher in Tennessee and Florida. Kenny will be remembered mostly for his devotion to his family, his kind and giving heart, his quick wit and unmatched sense of humor. He was an avid fan of the Ole Miss Rebels!!
Visitation for family and friends will be from 4:00-6:00pm, Wednesday, March 27, 2019 at Merritt Funeral Home, Brooksville Chapel. A Celebration of Kenny's Life will follow at 6:00pm. A graveside Memorial service will take place at Tippah Memorial Gardens, Ripley, Mississippi, on Saturday, March 30, 2019 at 2pm with Dr. Patrick Chapman officiating services. Kenny will be honored with a 21-gun salute. Serving as Honorary Pall bearers are Cliff Mills, Paul Laney, Joe Mac Bingham, John Brannis, Rodney Parks, Don Price, Mike Cooper, David Lampkin, Mark Knight, Sledge Fife, Hugh Keen, John Kalashian, and Ben Cartwright.
