He was born January 9, 1928 in Forrest City, Arkansas and came to Brooksville 49 years ago from Blytheville, Arkansas. He enjoyed two careers. The first 22 year career was military in which he served as a highly decorated Major in the United States Air Force and a Vietnam War Veteran. His second career was as a teacher at Parrott Middle School in Hernando County, Florida. He was a member of the Military Officers Association and First United Methodist Church Brooksville.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Elizabeth "Betty" A. Hunter. He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Julius "Jay" W. Jr. & Suzan Hunter of Tallahassee, Florida and Sam R. & Michelle Hunter of Tampa, Florida; brother, Charles Hunter of New Port Richey, Florida; sister, Mariane Cunningham of Wichita Falls, Texas; six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00am, Saturday, April 24, 2021 at the First United Methodist Church Brooksville.
