Janet L. (Granny) Collett Bryant, born at Lyra, OH on April 25, 1938, passed away in Brooksville, FL on February 2, 2023 with heart complications. Janet was preceded in death by her parents, William and Jennetta Collett and her brother, Russell Collett .She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Curtis E. Bryant, daughters Wanda Bailey (Terry Bailey) of Masaryktown, FL and Carol Herdman (Randy Herdman) of Wheelersburg, OH. She is also survived by 4 sisters: Blanche (Sis) Maggard of Pinehurst, TX, Linda McCoy of Wheelersburg, OH, Barbara Evans of Franklin Furnace, OH, and Geneva Collett also of Wheelersburg, OH. In addition, she is survived by grandchildren, Curtis Herdman, Tara Takas, Randy Dale Herdman, Douglas Bailey, and Sarah Herdman, 18 Great-grandchildren, and 4 Great-great-grandchildren.
She was a graduate of Green High School in Franklin Furnace, OH. She was a member of New Hope Assembly of God Church of Brooksville, FL where she helped run the Blessing House Food Pantry with her husband for many years. She’s also served on the church board for several years.
She’s enjoyed many careers in her lifetime in customer service, food service, as a florist, and as a hazardous waste truck driver. Granny was like family to many people. She will be truly missed by her family and friends.
A visitation for her will be at Merritt Funeral Home in Brooksville, FL on Friday, February 10th from 4 – 6 pm., followed by her memorial service, also at Merritt, officiated by Reverend Terry Bailey, at 6 pm. Her earthly body will be laid to rest by her family later at Bushnell National (Veterans) Cemetery.
