James Robert Morgan

MORGAN, James R., age 73 of Brooksville, FL passed away Wed., Nov. 30, 2011 at Brooksville Regional Hospital.  Born in Bartow, FL he came here 30 years ago from New Port Richey, FL.  He was a retired Florida State Trooper and was formerly employed by the Lakeland City Police Department, was a medical investigator for the District 5 Medical Examiner’s Office, served in the U.S. Army Reserves as a Military Policeman and was of the Baptist faith.  Jim loved to fix things.  He was a trim carpenter and loved working in the woods around his property.  He was an avid golfer and enjoyed fishing. 

Survivors include his wife:  Betty Jane; daughter & son-in-law:  Lisa & Kevin Thieryung of Brooksville, FL; sons & daughters-in-law:  Ronald Duane & Lisa Michelle Morgan and Jeffrey Wayne & Lindsay Morgan all of Brooksville, FL; sister:  Diane Harris of Ft. Meade, FL; Grandchildren:  Casey James Thieryung, Caroline Mackenzie Morgan & Mason Jeffrey Morgan all of Brooksville, FL. 

Visitation for friends will be 3 – 5pm, Mon., Dec. 5, 2011 at the Merritt Funeral Home, Brooksville Chapel, where funeral services will begin at 5:00pm.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made to FHP Broken Spoke Club, P.O. Box 11178, Tallahassee, FL 32302, for the benefit families of slain officer’s.
