She was born January 16, 1948 in the Panama Canal Zone and came to the area in 1966 from Tampa, Florida. Irene graduated from Chamberlain High School, Class of 1966 and retired after 30 years of service as a telephone operator with AT&T. She was employed for 15 years as a pharmacy clerk at Walmart in Brooksville, Florida.
She was a member of Brooksville Christian Church where she taught Sunday school, was active with church women's groups and Bible study. She loved her church, but most of all loved her family. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandson were her world.
Preceded in death by her parents, Marcus E. and Georgina Baker; brothers, Robert E. Baker and Marcus E. "Eddie" Baker Jr.; and sister, Lorna Lowe. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law: Sid & Lauren Carlo of Brooksville, Florida and Randy & Peggy Horine of Dade City, Florida; sister and brother-in-law, Rowena & Jeff Ramos of Orlando, Florida; grandchildren, J.T. Simpson, Bailey Carlo, Stephanie Hart, and Selena Ruggieri; great-grandson, Asher Ramone Mobley.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00am, Friday, January 14, 2022 at the Brooksville Christian Church, with Dale Wise officiating.
