Howard Lewis Webb was born on January 10, 1933 in Tiger, GA to John and Effie Webb. He grew up in the Mountain area of North Georgia and North Carolina. He lived a simple life with his brothers and sisters, he was one of eight; four brothers (Eschol, Mack, Roland, and Johnny) and three sisters (Elnora, Evelyn, and Tori). Howard always had a knack for quick learning and a mind for numbers and engineering. Howard graduated in 1950 and soon began his working career. Howard met his beloved wife, Peggy Ann Goza, while working together and it was love at first sight. They married on September 9, 1952.
Howard served in the Navy from 1952-1955 while being stationed in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. He served throughout the Pacific during his years of Active Duty. During this time, Howard and Peggy had their first son, Randy. Shortly after his tenure in the Navy and moving back to the State of Georgia, they had their second son, Stan.
Howard spent his time in Georgia working for Georgia Power and Mark C. Pope Associates. He served his church loyally and was ordained a Deacon at First Baptist of Atlanta in 1986. Howard retired from working but remained active at FBA serving in many roles. He lived his life full of love for family and Jesus. He was a beacon of light and joy for all that he encountered throughout his life. His joy, humor, and godliness were the cornerstone and foundation for his family. As he always stated, “I am truly blessed”.
Howard passed away on Thursday, April 20, 2023 surrounded by his two sons and two grandsons in Weeki Wachee, FL.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Ann. He is survived by his sons and daughter-in-laws: Randy and Debbie Webb of Lawrenceville, GA & Stan and Sheri Lin Webb of Weeki Wachee, FL; Grandchildren: Matthew and Pam Webb & Michael and Brittany Webb; Great-Grandchildren: Andrew, Breanna, Everly, and Hadley.
The family will hold visitation at Wages & Sons in Lawrenceville on Wednesday, April 26 from 5p – 8p; a Funeral Service at First Baptist of Atlanta on Thursday, April 27 at 11:00 am, and immediately following a burial service at Floral Hills Memory Gardens in Tucker, GA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: FBA, InTouch Ministries, and Samaritan’s Purse.
