Frank Garnett Smith

Frank is preceded in death by his father, Lewis Smith and his mother, Alpha Smith.

Frank is survived by Shelby Smith, his loving wife of 17 years.  They were married in Brooksville, Florida on July 26, 2001.

Frank is affectionately remembered by his children, Chris Smith of Brooksville, FL, Karen & Michael Kenjosian of Jacksonville, FL, Kimberly May & Scott Wilson of Douglasville, GA, Kelly & Bill Priede of Brooksville, FL, Michael & Kim Romine of Zephyrhills, FL; brother and sister-in-law, Roy & Anita Smith of Stephen City, VA; his nephews, Jason Smith and Matthew Smith; his twelve grandchildren and his seven great-grandchildren.

Frank was born in Albemarle County, Virginia on April 5, 1947 and came to this area 26 years ago from Santa Ana, California.  After high school, Frank joined the United States Air Force and fought in the Vietnam War.  Upon returning to the states, Frank played the saxophone for the United States Air Force Band and was known as “The White Shadow.”   He finished his military career as a Master Sergeant and recruiter.

Frank was a man of many talents and interests. In high school, he was an all-state champion wrestler.  The characteristic thin physique that we all know had been sculpted into that of a veritable Greek god! Frank was also a successful real-estate investor.  He loved to laugh and to poke fun at others and himself.  Frank loved to play music and even had a short career as a karaoke DJ.  He never saw a yard sale he didn’t like, and loved to tinker with his found treasures.  More than anything, Frank loved Shelby, loved their life together, and loved their dogs, Hazel and Bailey.

A Memorial Service will be held at 4:00pm, Friday, August 10, 2018 at Christ Lutheran Church, 475 North Avenue West, Brooksville, Florida 34601. A Celebration of Life Reception will follow from 5:00pm-8:00pm. 

An Inurnment will take place at Florida National Cemetery, with military honors.  Date and time will be announced at a later date.
