Florence Blanche Schell

Florence Blanche Schell, of Conroe, TX, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 22, 2022, following a short illness, at the age of 92.  She was born on January 16, 1930, in Bloomdale, OH, to Harry Lee and Zelma Eve (Smith) Swartz, and they preceded her in death.

She married Delton W. Schell in 1970, and he preceded her in death in 2004.  She is survived by her stepdaughters, Janet (Dan) Anderson, Jane (Mark) Meyer, Jennifer Smith and Rose (Dan) Gabbard, five grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. 

Florence was also preceded in death by her siblings, Owen Swartz, Eleanor Oller and Warren Swartz; son-in-law, Duane R. Smith; and, grand-daughter, Cherie Vanderburg.

Florence was a graduate of Ross High School, Fremont, OH; and, Stautzenberger Business School, Toledo, OH.  She held various clerical positions, culminating as an office manager at The Dow Chemical Company, Findlay, OH, prior to her marriage to Delton.  When married, she became an instant ‘mother’, and assisted in the rearing of three small children.  She then went back to school to study computer science.  The Schells moved to Brooksville in 1985, where Florence ultimately retired from Southwest Florida Water Management District in 1997.  She relocated to Conroe, TX in 2019.

She served her family as secretary of the Chandler Smith reunion for over fifteen years, and her church as board secretary and in various other capacities at New Hope Assembly of God, Brooksville, FL.

A graveside service will be held at the Florida National Cemetery, 6502 SW 102nd Ave, Bushnell, FL on Friday, June 3, at 11:00 a.m., the Rev. Terry Bailey officiating.  A memorial service will follow at New Hope Assembly of God, 27488 Cortez Blvd, Brooksville, FL (34602), at 2:00 p.m.
