He was born February 17, 1940 in Calhoun Falls, South Carolina and moved to Largo, Florida in 2012, then relocated to Spring Hill in 2017. He was a United States Army veteran of the Vietnam War achieving the rank of Lt. Colonel. He was a helicopter pilot during the war and then for 29 years with the United States Coast Guard.
He is survived by his wife of 14 years: Shirley Field of Spring Hill, Florida; sons and daughter-in-law: Eugene Field III, Jeffrey & Terri Field of Pennsylvania, and Andrew Field of Spring Hill, Florida; daughter: Lorraine Howard of Perry, Georgia; stepchildren: Lisa Kim Sampson of South Carolina and Clint E. & Shelbi Middleton of Wallops Island, Virginia; six grandchildren.
