Dorothy V. Williams

WILLIAMS, Dorothy V., age 77, died Tue., Dec. 21, 2010 at Spring Hill Health & Rehabilitation.  Born in Alexander, TN she came here 45 years ago from Mt. Juliet, TN.  She was a home maker, worked within the Hernando County School System as librarian, substitute teacher and lunchroom lady and she worked as an operating room nurse in Madison Hospital in Madison, TN. She, along with her husband, Carlton, were former owner/operators of Big Daddy’s Swap Shop (also known as the Red Barn in Brooksville).  She enjoyed assisting handicapped children and was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and Silver Springs Baptist Church, Mt. Juliet.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Carlton, son, Melvin & daughter, Maxine.  Survivors include her son:  Michael & Teena Williams of Spring Hill; daughters: Marlene Fuller of Weeki Wachee, FL and Melody Merritt of Hernando Beach, FL; mother:  Betty Odell Vantrease of Mt. Juliet, TN; sisters: Carolyn Whipple & Bonnie Bass both of Mt. Juliet, TN and Brenda Lampley of Lebanon, TN; 9 Grandchildren and 4 Great Grandchildren.  Visitation for friends will be 6-8:00pm, Sun., Dec. 26, 2010 at the Merritt Funeral Home, Brooksville Chapel.  Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00pm, Tues., Dec. 28, 2010 at Phillips-Robinson Funeral Home, Hadley Chapel, Old Hickory, TN with visitation from 1 - 2pm. Interment will follow at Hermitage Memorial Gardens, Old Hickory, TN.
