She was born November 22, 1937 in Detroit, Michigan and came to this area 44 years ago from Clearwater, Florida. She was a homemaker, an advocate for children by serving as a Guardian ad Litem volunteer and a member of Christian Fellowship Church in Brooksville.
She is survived by her husband, L.V. Bates; daughters, Teresa Smith of Columbia, Kentucky and Angel Hatfield of Spring Hill, Florida; brothers, Chris and Larry Laurence of Seattle, Washington; sisters, Sharon Pettit of Lakeland, Florida and Faith Laurence of California; 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Visitation for family and friends will be 11:00am–1:00pm, Saturday, October 7, 2017 at Christian Fellowship Church, where Funeral Services will begin at 1:00pm, with Pastor Eddie Roberts officiating.
