Doris Katherine Rose Bowman, a strong woman, daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister-in-law, aunt, and friend to many, passed away peacefully into the loving arms of Jesus on Monday, September 30, 2019.
Doris was born on June 8, 1929, in Ellenville, New York. While always a country girl at heart, she married and lived many years on Long Island, New York—returning to the country for awhile after retirement, and then to Spring Hill, Florida with her daughter and family. Doris was a dedicated, hard-working wife and mother who devoted her life to caring for her family. Those she loved—family and friends—all held a special place in her heart and a treasured preciousness within her. She loved taking long walks, knitting, sewing, quilting, crocheting, playing bingo, watching love stories on TV, gardening, listening to her favorite hymns, the reflection of the sun on the creek, and reading her Bible. Most of all, her heart was overflowing with love for Jesus, and the promise of eternal life. For 90 years, or more precisely 32,987 days, Doris had given and received love, had shown and received forgiveness, cried, laughed, endured heartache, rejoiced, prayed, hoped for, dreamed about, shared her thoughts, hid her fears, and continually gave thanks with a grateful heart. Doris was a beautiful, humble woman who will be missed more than words can say, loved always, and remain in our hearts forever.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Vernon H. & Sylvia Bowman of Los Angeles, California; daughter and son-in-law, Jean & Frank Fehrenbach of Spring Hill, Florida; three grandchildren, Laura Jeneault of Canandaigua, New York, Kristi Corcoran of Weeki Wachee, Florida and Adam Fehrenbach of Spring Hill, Florida; three great-grandchildren, Jillian Jeneault of Canandaigua, New York, Michael and Kristina Colucci, both of Weeki Wachee, Florida; several nieces and nephews as well as grand nieces and nephews.
For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord,
plans to prosper you and not to harm you, to give you a future and a hope. ~ Jeremiah 29:11
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life,
and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever. ~ Psalm 23
