She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Samantha Bishop & Avery Wood of Tampa, Florida; her sons and daughter-in-law, Steve Jr. & Devin Bishop of Spring Hill, Florida, and Scott Bishop of Jacksonville, North Carolina; sisters and brothers-in-law, Sharon & Steve Baum of Missouri, and Barbara & Dave Zebrowski of Wisconsin; brother and sister-in-law, John Jr. & Jeanette Dorff of Oviedo, Florida; grandchildren, Tanner Bishop, Hayden Bishop, and Bryson Bishop.
Dawn was a teacher for Hernando County Schools for twelve years but has been a part of the Chocachatti Elementary School family since they opened in 1999. She worked countless hours in the library before earning her bachelor’s degree in education where she went on to teach second and first grade, as well as kindergarten. Most of the time she was always the first person at the school every morning, and the last one to leave at night, occasionally spending her weekends at the school preparing for the upcoming week. Dawn also tutored after school hours, on the weekends, and during the summer to help those who needed it. She impacted the lives of teachers and students over her many years with the school, ensuring everyone knew how much she truly cared.
When she was not at the school, Dawn was at home doing one of the many things she loved to do. She loved to craft and color in her spare time, watch true crime shows, and cook. She had many famous recipes that everyone will surely miss, and even though some will try to recreate her masterpieces, it will never taste the same. Dawn also loved to shop, go out to eat, and pamper herself.
Dawn was also always there for her family. She was there for every birthday party, holiday gathering, and event. She attended as many volleyball games, swim meets, dance recitals, baseball games, and NJROTC events as she could. Needless to say, she was a very busy woman, but lived a very selfless life. She always put others before herself, making sure that everyone was taken care of. Dawn loved so many people, and so many people loved her right back. She truly will be missed by all.
