Alfred Richard Royal

ROYAL, Alfred Richard, age 86, of Brooksville, Florida, passed away Friday, December 17, 2021, peacefully in his home. He was born in Lake Wales, Florida on November 20, 1935, to James and Rena Lou (Tucker) Royal. Alfred was a Florida native and moved to Brooksville, Florida in 1965. He worked in the communication industry installing telephones, was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and waw a member of what was known as the Sheriff’s Posse.   Alfred served in the U. S. Army, 81st Airborne Unit, as a private first class and in the  U.S. Air Force as an airman first class. He was Baptist by faith and was a member of Waverly Baptist Church. Alfred spent 55 years married and devoted to his wife Mildred “Diane.”

He was preceded in death by his father: James E. Royal; his mother: Rena Lou Royal; and his brother: James S. Royal.

He is survived by his wife: Mildred “Diane” Royal, of Brooksville, Florida; sons and daughters-in-law: Scott and Angel Royal of Brooksville, Florida, Logan Harris of Brooksville, Florida; and Alfred, Jr.  “Rick”  & Elizabeth Royal, of Brooksville, Florida; daughters and son-in-law: Teresa Deren of Brooksville, Florida and Kimberly & Larrty Royal of Merritt Island, Florida; brother and sister-in-law: Carl L. and Patricia Royal of Bartow, Florida; sister: Reba Pearson of Winter Haven, Florida; fourteen grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.

Visitation for friends will be 12:00 - 1:00pm, Monday, December 27, 2021 at the Merritt Funeral Home, Brooksville Chapel, where funeral services will begin at 1:00pm with Reverend David Hope officiatinng.
