Rosemary Breen

Rosemary Breen (Hogan) was a caring wife, daughter, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Sunday, January 30, 2022 at the age of 91. Born on January 9, 1931 to Elizabeth and Joseph Hogan, she was pre-deceased by her loving husband of 30 years, Daniel W. Breen. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Regina and son-in-law Michael Mattia, grandchildren Michael Mattia (Maria), Elizabeth Gerace (Charles), Erin Pomykala (Michael). Adoring great-grandchildren; Avery, MJ and Daniel Mattia, Charles (C.J.) and Breen Gerace, Michael and Lucas Pomykala. Fond sister of Gerard Hogan (Joan), Regina and the late Edwin Thorne. Pre-deceased by brother Joseph Hogan (Mary), sister Elizabeth Marsini (Anthony) and her companion of many years, August Lovinkaitis. Rosemary is also survived by her Godson Robert (Madeline) and their daughter Meredith, her nephews Gregory and Edwin and many nieces and nephews who loved her.

A lifelong resident of Brooklyn, Rosemary was an active parishioner of Sts. Simon and Jude Church for 60 years, where she also worked as school secretary for ten years. A dedicated member and past president of the Rosary Society, Rosemary also worked on the Sports and Bazaar Committees as well as numerous other church activities. She lived a life committed to her family, faith and friends. Those who knew her will remember Rosemary as a kind, caring, compassionate and loving woman.

A visitation for Rosemary will be held Thursday, February 3, 2022 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Cusimano & Russo Funeral Home, 2005 West 6th St, Brooklyn, NY 11223. A funeral mass will occur Friday, February 4, 2022 from 9:45 AM to 10:30 AM at St. Simon & Jude Roman Catholic Church, 185 Van Sicklen Street, Brooklyn, NY 11223. Interment to follow in Resurrection Cemetery, 391 Sharott Avenue, Staten Island, NY 10309.
