A devoted husband and father, known affectionately as Big Bob, passed away on Dec. 5th with his eldest daughter at his side. Robert is predeceased in death by his loving wife, Barbara. He is survived by his children, John, Mary, Sharon, Marilyn; grandchildren John, Brendan, Patrick, Matthew, Nicolas, Julia, Caroline, Daniel, Katie, Molly, and Marielle; great granddaughter Hazel; daughter-in-law Patricia; and sons-in-law Robert, Alain, and Michael.
Born to Irish immigrant parents, John P. and Nora, in Brooklyn, his entrepreneurial spirit and his warm vivacious personality led him to a successful career in the financial advisory business. Driven to provide for his family, he possessed an exemplary work ethic. The strength of his faith and dedication to his family was at his core. Bob had a knack for spinning things in a positive light. Growing up his motto was always keep a "positive attitude." Although at times he admitted to being quiet, one would never had guessed. His optimism and outgoing nature was infectious. He lit up the room with his smile. His father said, " Each child brings joy," and he lovingly embraced this sentiment with his devotion to his children and grandchildren, For leisure, he enjoyed playing tennis, weekend rounds of golf, and sharing a meal out with his wife, Barbara. True to his Irish heritage, he captivated us with his wit and creative storytelling. On foggy summer nights, outings to Carvel would bring his favorite fictional character to life. Bob had a gift of engaging with others and all who interacted with him will never forget his warmth and graciousness.
Big Bob was the light of our lives; his spirit and his smile will continue to shine brightly in our hearts. As he often said, "It's not goodbye, It's so long." Our dearest father, so long.
A funeral mass for Robert will be held Friday, December 13, 2024 at 9:30 AM at St Saviour Church, 611 8th Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11215.
