Richard Weaver -Born in Queens, NY on December 13, 1939 to Irvin and Helen. Survived by his loving wife Kathleen; Children - Richard, Robin and David; Grandchildren - Courtney-Anne, Kyle, Dara-Marie, Georgeanne, Marley, Devin; Great grandchild - Sierra; Sister – Barbara.
It is hard to put into words the numbers of lives that Richard touched and the impact of his passing will have on his family and friends. He lived a full and happy life and brought his positive outlook into all of his relationships.
He was very proud of the 22 years he served as a New York City Transit Police officer, where he retired as a Sargent in 1986. Richard became an avid runner over the years and was closely involved with the Prospect Park Road Runners Club. During that time he completed 3 NYC marathons, his last at 66 years old. Even though he no longer ran the last couple of years, he was always available to help organize and support.
He and Kathleen were always on the go, whether attending their grandchildren’s events, going to a show in the city with friends or traveling the world.
In the over 40 years that Richard and Kathleen have lived on E8th street, Richard become the ‘unofficial mayor’ of the block. Not a person came on the block that he would not speak to or lend a hand.
If wealth is measured by the impact you have had on people’s lives, then Richard is the richest man I have ever known
