I was saddened to hear of Peter's passing. He was a great blessing to me and my wife back in the day when we went to church together. He taught me humility and the love of Jesus which he tried to embody with all of his heart. He trusted in Jesus and I know he is there with Him now, all his suffering and trials over, enjoying the Glory of the Lord. One other thing. I often speak of him at our church fellowships as the man who taught me to make good coffee for a crowd using those big urns churches are so fond of. He measured not with a scoop but by sight. I never forgot that. I pray blessings on his family. May they come to realize the comfort of the Lord knowing that Peter is in the best place he can be, the best place any of us can be.

I am very sorry to hear of Peter's passing.  My heartfelt condolences are extended to his wife, family, and friends, who loved him so much and he, them.  He also loved and served God for so many years, as an outward act of an inward, deep faith he had in Jesus Christ. I know he will be missed by so many, on this side of heaven.

I am saddened to hear of the passing of my neighbor Pete. My heart is heavy and my eyes well up with tears. I lived next to Pete on E1st street for 14 years. Pete wasn't just a neighbor, he was a grandpa to my kids and a friend to me. I learned so much from Pete. He is the most caring, honest and loving human being. He taught us the real meaning of "loving your neighbor as you love yourself". I couldn't have ask for a better person to live near. I looked forward to our daily talks and he always taught me a thing or two about life and G-d. Always reminding me that even though we have different religions, we all have one 
G-d. I don't think I would have been able to last 14 years in NY without having Pete as my neighbor. I always felt safe with Pete next door and knew he was looking out for us. Pete was also such a giver. He gave us fruits and vegetables from his garden, lent us tools from his fully stocked garage (I rarely needed Home Depot!) and he always helped me out when I was trying to repair something or needed something on the Sabbath. My 5 kids loved Pete too. He always greeted them with a huge smile and they always greeted him back, very excited to tell Pete various things about their day. In June we moved and it was hard for us to leave Pete. We took a family photo with Pete and I will cherish it forever. He changed our lives for the better. I thank G-d for sending me Pete as a neighbor. I couldn't have ask for anyone better in the world. Thank you Pete for being you and for sharing your love and wisdom. May you rest in peace. I know that you are in the highest part of heaven with G-d and benefiting from all the good you did here on earth. Bless you and your family Love, Renea Sabbagh

Dear Uncle Peter, words cannot express the mark you have left in our family.

I'm so saddened to hear this news.  Peter was a thoughtful, kind neighbor who helped my mother (Maria Portuesi) ALOT especially after my father passed away.  A very kind soul.  May God rest his soul

Thank you for being an enormously important part of my children's lives. You were an amazingly wonderful grandfather to them. I will truly miss my dear Uncle Pete. I will always remember how he would often come to visit my Dad during the last years of my Dad's life. He came with food, words of encouragement and much love.  Aunt Rosalie, Olivia, Trina, and Rosemary, you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers and I am here for you.
