Patricia Daniels went home to be with the Lord on August 31, 2019. Patricia was born in Park Slope, Brooklyn, went to St. Saviour High School and graduated from Montefiore Medical School of Nursing. She worked in New York Medical College (among many other hospitals) and became one of New York City’s first ultrasound technical specialists, and also assisted in amniocentesis and high-risk pregnancies. Working in some of the city’s most crime-ridden areas, she saw the good in every patient she met and treated them with kindness, empathy, and skilled medical care.
That was Patricia. Anyone who knew her loved her. She cared for elderly neighbors on the block after a long’s day’s work in between playing with her girls and sitting on the stoop with her beloved dogs. So many people who knew her said she was like another mother to them. Incredibly strong, even up to her last days, she would famously say she was so tough because she was from Brooklyn.
Although her medical career was so accomplished, nothing even came close to what she gave to her family. She was the most loving mom to Gina and her husband Augie and Danielle and her husband, Mal and the absolute best Nanny in the world to Michael, Amanda, Katie, Pete, MJ, and Lexi.
As a wife, her beloved Dan was always in the forefront of her mind and heart. Together they enjoyed vacations in Italy, France, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, countless beach trips, sightseeing expeditions, and long drives. Dr. Dan, the pilot even encouraged her to take flying lessons, which she took very seriously, becoming one of the smoothest landers in all of Punxsutawney, PA. Patricia had fun anywhere and greatly enjoyed her regular day-to-day life with Dan: getting coffee and pizza, playing with Sha Sha in the yard, babysitting the grandkids, going to church, watching her programs, and visiting kids and grandkids … so many days filled with love and laughter, providing countless, lifetime memories.
Patricia made the world a better place in a thousand different ways. She left every person she met in a better place than before they encountered her.
Although Patricia will be greatly and intensely missed, there is also joy that she has been reunited with her own mom, Dorothy and her brother Richard, and she is cradling her granddaughter, Alyssa in her loving arms. The world is a little dimmer without Patricia but heaven is surely shining brighter.
