Marie Fredette, of Bayville, New Jersey, passed away on October 24, 2022. She was 82 years old. Marie was an amazing wife, loving mother, doting mother-in-law, and adoring grandma. Nothing was more important to her than her family.
Marie was born in Manhattan in January of 1940. She grew up in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn. Her parents Millie and Willie, had three children. Marie was the middle child. She had an older sister, Margaret, and a younger brother Charles. After graduating high school, she relished working in the hustle and bustle of NYC. Whether it be in the fashion industry at Chanel or the entertainment scene at the Brown Derby. Marie loved martinis and going out dancing.
In her late twenties and early thirties, she had two daughters, Michele and ToniAnn. When the girls were young, she raised them as a single mom overcoming hardships and making sure they grew up in a stable, loving home. Then she married Joe, the love of her life, her rock, the man who made her smile. Joe became her lifelong partner for 34 years.
Marie, Joe and the girls lived together for many years in Bensonhurst. They proudly watched the girls grow up, go on to graduate college, pursue successful careers, get married and start families of their own. She remained close to her parents, her siblings, her daughters and their growing families. Marie and Joe loved their time in Brooklyn surrounded by a network of friends who they remained close to throughout their lives. Later in life, Marie and Joe purchased their first home in Sonata Bay, New Jersey where they were fortunate to join a new community of friends who were and are a constant source of support and enjoyment. Upon arriving in Sonata Bay, they adopted, Mia.
Marie has six grandchildren. She played a central role in all of their lives. She was the grandma who always had lollipops in her bag, who always sent birthday and holiday cards and thoughtful and interesting presents (including the free gifts she received from TD Bank). Her grandchildren- Luke, Chris, Chloe, Molly, Will and Jack- loved her and will greatly miss her. Marie was extremely strong and proud and you were one of the lucky ones if she cast her light on you. She was beautiful and elegant and took great pride in her appearance. She had endless reserves of energy and left your home ten times cleaner and more organized than when she arrived. She was an animal lover- particularly to her dog Mia who ate better than most humans. She loved her trips to the hairdresser and nail salon. Thanks to her perfect hair, perfect nails and her Italian genes, it was hard to convince most people of her real age. She is missed more than words can describe. Marie truly enjoyed talking to family and friends as often as possible. In her memory today, reach out to those you love, make time for them, and tell them often how much they mean to you.
There will be a memorial service at Joseph G Duffy Funeral Home on November 12th from 10:30am to 1pm. before she is put to rest beside her family at Green-Wood Cemetery.
