I am so saddened to hear of the passing of my dear cousin. Maria was a kind and loving soul. Such a gentle spirit. May all of her children find comfort in knowing that the light and love that she shared with them and others will live in their hearts forever.  

My fond memories of Maria were how she played a role in caring for the family (near or far) and her compassion for pets.  She took interest in different cultures and events that occurred in the media.  She enjoyed communicating on the phone for hours.  I remember the time when she made dinner in Jersey City which was delicious.  She was very talented. 

I didn't know Maria personally, but I work with her son, David, and he shared neat stories and fond memories about his mom. I especially liked hearing stories about her love of animals - such a compassionate and caring person!  Sending many prayers for the Darnell family.

I have learned so much from her and will miss her. There are no words to aptly describe how I feel.
