Dearest Marie and Lou, & family-

Our hearts break for your family as you endure this grief and sadness. We pray that you find comfort in loving memories; and we pray that Louis has found peace in the Kingdom of Heaven.  The Lord and St. Michael have gained another Police Officer in the eternal fight against evil.  

Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they will be called children of God.

We lost a good friend. Heart of gold and never a dull moment. I’ve never been around him when I wasn’t laughing.  So many good memories he will be sorely missed. Love you Brother.

My condolences to the family and especially Lou’s son.  
Even though my grandfather, father, and brother were all NYPD, I did not know “Big Lou” when he was on the job.  I didn’t meet him until I retired from the army and made a trip to Lou’s second home, the Dominican Republic. 

Lou had just opened a business on the beach, The New York Shark Bar. And it became THE place for “gringos” from all over to meet.  And that was for one reason only. Lou and his engaging personality.  As soon as you walked in, he introduced himself and made you feel welcome. And after he met you, he never forgot a face or a name.

He was generous and fair to everyone. Locals and tourists alike and was well respected in the community. 
His greeting of “How are you baby?” to passerby’s always brought smiles.  

I also had the pleasure to meet Lou’s parents and sister when they were visiting (after the Shark Bar moved off the beach and onto the main drag).  Right away you could see where Lou got his charm, personality, and good looks. 😉. A real salt of the earth Brooklyn family. 👍 

I’m in the DR now. And I’ve spoken with Vanessa to offer my support and condolences.

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Vingelli and family,
I'm so sorry for your loss. Please accept my deepest condolences during this difficult time. I can't imagine the pain you're going through, but I hope you find comfort in the cherished memories and the love that surrounds you.  I have many cherished and fun memories of Lou.   Too many to share.  
Dear Lou, I recall attending a funeral mass where the priest inquired if anyone knew the inscription on Frank Sinatra's tombstone. Most attendees believed it said "I did it my way," but it actually reads "The Best is Yet to Come." Similarly, for you, my beautiful friend Lou, I have faith that the best is yet to come.  Lou, in recent years, you faced tough health issues and fought through them like a champion. May you now rest in peace.  I do have the honor of knowing that The NYPD Detective Shield #4520, which I once wore, was later assigned to Lou upon your promotion. It is remarkable that this same shield connected us even before our paths crossed, the same actual shield was pinned over both of our hearts.  I hold great love and affection for you, Lou, and your presence will be profoundly missed.

To my dear friend Louie and his wonderful wife Marie. I am so sorry for the loss of your son Louis Jr. I can not imagine how you feel. We became police officers and started in the 60th precinct..We were partnered on our first night on Mermaid ave in the 60 precinct. You made the arrest and were injured also going thru the door. We both started on 4-26-74. We started at the 60 then after training we were both transferred to the 84 in Brooklyn.  We became very best friends ever since. Love you Lou and Marie. Paulie
