SAMPSON, Lizzie Leona "Lee" on September 7th, 2017. Lee was born Monday, May 1st, 1939 from the late Leora and McKinley Ward in Mount Olive, North Carolina. Lizzie moved to New York City in 1955 with her beloved husband, Lloyd Sampson. Together, they both raised five children: Arnold, Ronald, Linda, Marlene and Bernie. After retiring from the healthcare industry, "Lee" enjoyed watching her Yankees, reading and doing crossword puzzles. What brought her the greatest joy, however, was watching her 17 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren grow throughout the years. "Lee" was the cornerstone of our family and will be greatly missed but never forgotten. She is leaving behind her husband, soulmate and best friend of 61 years, Lloyd Sampson. She also leaves two brothers, Bobby & Larry Ward of North Carolina and a sister, Joyce Johnson, also of North Carolina, and a host of cousins from North Carolina. Lizzie was the loving sister of the late Virginia Mack and Lemont Kelly.
