James J. “Jim” “JJ” Quinn, Jr., 77 of New York City, NY died on Thursday April 30, 2020 due to complications of COVID-19. He was the husband of Cathy Scannapieco Quinn. They would have celebrated their 37th wedding anniversary in August.
Born in Oklahoma City, OK, he was the son of the late Dr. James J. Quinn Sr. and C. Stanley and Ruth Haberstroh Albright. He was a graduate of Lancaster Catholic High School Class of 1960 and Villanova University Class of 1964 where he was President of the Villanova Glee Club and a founding member of the Villanova Spires a cappella group alongside music legend Jim Croce. Jim was a proud member of SAG-AFTRA and the Actors Studio, and studied under legends Lee Strasberg and Elia Kazan. He was in the original workshop of The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas and starred in HBO’s 1986 movie Joey as Joey King Sr., showing off unparalleled dance moves. Jim enjoyed nothing more than driving around with the windows down and his eclectic variety of music blasting, going to the US Open, and rooting for the Villanova Men’s Basketball team and the New York Yankees, Giants and Knicks – especially alongside his daughter.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Ashley W. Quinn of New York, NY; brothers John M. Quinn and Carl S. Albright, sister-in-law Joni Albright-Groom; brother-in-law Donald Scannapieco; 13 nieces and nephews and many great-nieces and great-nephews. He is preceded in death by brother Mark W. Albright, niece Meaghan Quinn, and sisters-in-law Susan Scannapieco and Mary-Ann P. Haran Esq.
