Gary Winslow Henkle, age 32 of New York City, passed away suddenly on October 28, 2019 in Brooklyn, NY. Gary is survived by his parents Ann (Goldman) and Mel (Robert); his brother Scott; his grandparents Mary Ann (Boynton) and Bob; his aunts Robin Atlas, Casey Henkle, Nancy Lichtle and Sheila London; his uncles Ron London, Keith Atlas and Mark Lichtle; his cousins Wendy London, Zachary Atlas, Emily London and Taylor Lichtle plus his extended family who he loved dearly.
Gary loved art in all forms, especially music and theater as he was always quick to break into song. He leaves behind many dear friends from the various places he frequented and the organizations he was a part of.
Gary was a member of Congregation Beit Simchat Torah, where he participated in the choir and their Shelter of Peace project. He also seeked to improve the world however he could, like when he went down to New Orleans to help with the recovery after Hurricane Katrina.
Gary was a graduate of John Dewey High School in 2005 and Hunter College in 2008. He continued his education through a Fellowship in Judaic Studies at New York University and completing certifications with General Assembly, University of Cambridge and the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater. Professionally, Gary lent his supportive nature and organizational skills to a number of organizations, including Gamification Co., Gett, Candid and most recently Attune.
Services will be held at Nevsky Yablokoff Memorial Chapels at Noon on Wednesday, October 30th with burial to follow at Beth Israel Cemetery in Woodbridge, N.J. Shiva will be held at the London family residence following burial until 8:30 PM on Wednesday October 30 and from 1PM to 4PM and 6PM to 8PM on Thursday October 31.
