Edward Walter Jacobsen, born May 9th 1944 in Brooklyn, New York, passed away on February 20th at 12:31 a.m. in NYU Kimmel Hospital surrounded by his family after a year-long battle with cancer. Eddie grew up on a converted coal barge before moving to 14th Street, where he would meet Patricia McMullen, who would become his wife. Eddie was a mechanic by trade, but anyone who knew him knew he was a life-long mariner and that his boat and fishing were his passions. He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of fifty-four years, Patricia Jacobsen, his two daughters Patricia and Donna, son-in-laws Michael Mahoney and Michael DeFrenza and six grandchildren, Megan, Dominick, Matthew, Danielle, Anthony and Emily. The viewing will be at the Cusimano & Russo Funeral Home, 2005 W 6th Street, Brooklyn, New York on Saturday, February 22 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and he will be interred in Greenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers or mass cards, the family has requested a donation be made in Edward’s name to the American Cancer Society to aide others in their fight with cancer.
