Mary and Dominic Thomas Nunziato Sr., passed away on March 9th, 2020 in
Brooklyn, NY. He was 79 years old.
He grew up in Woodside, where the Nunziato Florist was a neighborhood
institution for decades. He spoke fondly of the family run business, where the
large Nunziato clan were all-hands on deck during busy times.
At 17, he joined the Navy and was stationed on the aircraft carrier USS WASP,
where he traveled the world. Returning from the service, he worked for over 30
years in the US Postal Service, then later in life for 15 years at Kingsborough
Community College. He lived in Brooklyn, NY for the past 35 years.
He is survived by his wife Cecilia, brother Daniel, children Dominic, Tomasina,
and Joseph, stepchildren Sherry-Ann and Kristine, and 9 grandchildren.
He was loved and his strong, steady, calm presence will be sorely missed by
those whose lives he touched.
Funeral services will be this Sunday, March 15th, Cusimano & Russo Funeral
Home - 2005 West 6th Street, Brooklyn 11223. Viewing hours are 1pm-4pm
and 6pm-9pm.
Mass will be held on Monday, March 16th at 10:45am at
Sts. Simon & Jude Church - 185 Van Sicklen Street, Brooklyn 11223.
Burial will follow the mass, with military honors, on Monday at Calverton National Cemetery - 210
Princeton Boulevard, Calverton, NY 11933.
