January 24, 1928 - November 15, 2019
Anthony Henry ("Hank") DeVito passed away at home, with his life partner of 42 years, Juliana, by his side. He is survived by his three daughters, Doreen Grimaldi, Carolyn Whelahan, and Gina DeVito; sister Rafaela Russo; granddaughters Kristen Hayes and Tara Merla; grandson Matthew Grimaldi; and great-grandson, Anthony Merla.
Hank was born in Brooklyn, NY, to Salvatore and Jessie DeVito. He enjoyed an idyllic childhood, growing up in the Williamsburg projects. Hank graduated from Long Island University, where he was their star pitcher. He proudly served our nation during the Korean War, and has remained very patriotic since being honorably discharged from the U.S. Coast Guard.
With his quick wit, friendly smile, and warm personality, he was well-liked by many. Hank loved music, movies and was passionate about baseball – always a die-hard Yankee fan! He was also a prankster who enjoyed telling jokes, being the life of the party – playfully entertaining and singing – as if he was born with a microphone in hand!
Hank will be missed far and wide but always remembered for the thoughtful, kind, considerate, loving partner, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend he was to all.
