Anna Louise Pitzer

Anna Louise Pitzer (nee Wolkow) passed peacefully at her home in Brooklyn on July 1, 2022. She celebrated her ninetieth birthday on June 25th surrounded by loved ones. Beloved wife of the late James S. Pitzer, Jr. Dear mother of the late James Paul and Daniel Paul. Survived by 4 loving grandchildren (Colleen, Michelle, Daniel and Madeline Pitzer) and cherished great grandson, Theodore Pitzer. Left with many decades of fond memories are her many friends, neighbors, and relatives who will all miss her greatly. Anna was respected and loved by all who knew her. If anyone ever needed anything, she would always generously offer her help. A fiercely independent woman, she worked as a dressmaker and made most of her own garments and created many hand-made presents and essentials for others from scratch. She married the love of her life, Jimmy, in 1951. They shared forty eight amazing years together and raised their two sons in Brooklyn, NY. She took great pride in decorating and maintaining the beautiful home they shared together on Crawford Avenue. She had seemingly boundless energy that she spent working daily to upkeep her home and garden into her late eighties. Anna was a passionate beach lover and always made sure to bring special meals and treats to share when she brought the neighborhood kids along with her to spend the day at the shore (even after her own children had grown). Anna was a voracious reader of mystery novels and visited her local library weekly. She was an active member of the senior social club of Our Lady of Grace parish. In her later years, she enjoyed tending to her flowers on her front porch, watching classic movies, and visiting with family and friends. She was deeply loved and will never be forgotten.

Memorial service to be held at Cusimano and Russo Funeral Home in Brooklyn Tuesday 7/12/22, 9-11 am. Interment to immediately follow at Calverton National Cemetery in Calverton, NY where she will be laid to rest with her beloved husband, Jimmy.
