Born in Coney Island Brooklyn New York January 24th 1931 Ann was blessed with a natural talent and passion for painting and drawing. It was this passion for the arts that drew her to a career as a commercial artist for animated cartoons and television commercials. She was part of the animation staff at Famous Studios and was part of the production teams for classic cartoons like Popeye, Casper the Friendly Ghost, Herman & Katnip and Little Audrey. She later worked on The Berenstain Bears and the animated Spider Man cartoon series.
Ann married Anthony S. DiLorenzo on September 29th 1956. The two were a colorful combination for sure. The pair would often spend their free time enjoying activities like archery and skeet shooting. They also had artistic creativity in common. They would collaborate on custom leather designs like belts or archery accessories. Ann would sketch the design and Anthony would carve her design into the leather.
Some of her other interests included swimming, singing and dancing. Since she grew up near the boardwalk in Coney Island, it was just a short walk from her childhood home to the beach for a quick swim. She would often say that swimming and dancing are the best exercises. Whenever she heard a strong beat it would set her foot tapping and she’d start to move - even in her seat. Ann had a natural ability for singing and briefly studied voice - she even performed in a few Manhattan supper clubs but animation was her forte. She took a hiatus from the cartoon industry to raise her son Anthony. Eventually she returned to animation and continued in that field for several years before pursuing new career opportunities.
Ann went on to take various classes because she loved learning and wanted to continue growing. She even tried her hand at real estate. The breadth of topics from her personal book collection is testament to her thirst for knowledge. To her last days Ann continued to solve word puzzles, read and sketch. She would say “you gotta keep the mind working.” She would often tell stories of her glory days as an artist and how it never felt like “work” because she had so much fun at her job.
Beloved wife, mother and best friend.
She left a lasting impression on everyone she touched. A selfless, loving soul.
Love you forever Mom!
