Tamar Sonnenschein of Chestnut Hill, was a warrior with the strength of lions who succumbed to Alzheimer’s cruelty on November 14. She battled valiantly for 8 years, defying nature, stumping the medical community and blessing her family with unexpected, repeated months of lucidity, joy and love. Our incredible matriarch leaves daughters Iris, Nurit and Orna, sons-in-law Eugene and Tim, and grandchildren and their partners Talia and Nate, Elan and Julie, Coby and Lauren, Avi and Megan and Nina, and great-granddaughter Aya. Tamar’s passing also leaves behind the absolute love of her life, her husband of 67 years, David. Her intelligence, spirit, guidance, love – and epic cookouts – will be deeply missed.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, November 18 at 1:30 pm at Temple Beth Avodah, 45 Puddingstone Lane, Newton. Interment to follow at Independent Pride of Boston, West Roxbury. Shiva will be announced at the service.
