Sylvia Rosenthal

Sylvia Rosenthal, the best mother ever and a loving grandmother, sister, cousin, and friend, died peacefully on Friday, April 4. Throughout her life, including in her final days, she was an enjoyer of her boys, her daughters-in-law, her grandchildren and the every day experiences of life. Her style, good humor, and wonderful spirit will be remembered by all those who knew and loved her. Born in 1919 in Worcester, she was one of four children born to Meyer and Rose Cohen. Her sister Eleanor Feldman survives her. She is also survived by her two sons Steven Rosenthal and his wife Wendy of Boylston, MA and David Rosenthal of Brookline, MA, and his wife Sally. Her five grandchildren, Anna, Nicholas, Julia, Matthew, and Scott loved being with her, as did Nicholas's wife Lyndsee, and nothing made her happier than to be with them or talk to her. Sylvia married Oscar Rosenthal in 1946 and theirs was a loving and devoted marriage of 23 years. Oscar died in 1969. Syl and Ozzie were wonderful role models as spouses and parents for their children. For many years, Sylvia ran the New York Trimming House on Main Street in Worcester with Ozzie, and after he died. After closing her store, Sylvia spent many hours volunteering for the Red Cross and other charitable organizations. A funeral service will be held on Monday, April 7th at 11am at Temple Emanuel Sinai, 280 May Street, Worcester. Interment will follow at B’nai Brith Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to gather immediately following interment at the home of Steven and Wendy Rosenthal. Donations in her memory may be made to the Oscar A.
