Shirley was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and a loving friend to many. She never missed a Red Sox game or the opportunity to visit with her six great-grandchildren, who lived nearby. Her brisket and challah were legendary, and she was the consummate host for couples’ nights and weekly mah jongg games with dear friends. She was industrious, always learning (sometimes embracing) new technologies, and a meticulous bookkeeper well into her 90s.
Shirley was a life member of Hebrew Senior Life and Hadassah, and a congregant of Temple Hillel Bnai Torah, West Roxbury. She is survived by family who gave her so much joy: her sons and daughters-in-law Alan (Beverly) and Steven (Joanna Rom); her treasured grandchildren James (Courtney) Goldberg, Marissa (Kevin) Cole, Joshua (Lindsay) Goldberg and Alison Goldberg; her great-grandchildren; her nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
She was the beloved sister of the late David (Pauline) Kooris and the late Evelyn (Walter) Awin. She was the beloved daughter of the late Annie and Hyman Kooris. She will be sorely missed by all.
Graveside services will take place on Wednesday, June 22, 2022 at 2PM at Agudath Israel Cemeteries, 776 Baker Street, West Roxbury MA. Shiva will be private.
Donations in her memory may be made to Hebrew Senior Life, 1200 Centre Street, Boston MA 02131 or to the charity of your choice.
