Rosalind (Glickman) Gray, age 99 of Auburndale, MA, formerly of Oak Hill Park, South Brookline and Needham, died Sunday, February 23, 2025.
The older daughter of Henry & Pauline Glickman of Saratoga Springs, NY. Rosalind (aka Roz) was born in Bennington, VT. She attended No. 7 school, K-8 and Saratoga Springs High School. In 1947 she graduated from Syracuse U with a BFA, taught in Waterford, NY for two years and earned her MFA from Teachers College Columbia U before coming to Newton to teach in the only Newton High School in 1950. In February 1952 she met the love of her life and they were married December 26, 1953. Mervin predeceased her in 2013 after 60 years of marriage.
Roz is survived by her sister Charlotte Albert; daughter Rena Gray Fein & her husband Robbie Fein; son Hillel Gray & his wife Cathy Bowers; and daughter Giela Gray & her husband Alan Goldenberg. She also leaves 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Her use of words and art brought beauty into the world. Her family remembers her as exquisite and gracious, with style and spirit, and unconditional love for her family and community.
Funeral will be held at Temple Emanuel, 385 Ward St., Newton on Monday, February 24 at 9:30am (with livestream viewing available using the following link: https://www.templeemanuel.com/livestream-links/
Burial will follow at the Temple Emeth Memorial Park, 776 Baker St., West Roxbury.
Shiva will be at Roz’s late residence at Lasell Village, Apt 210, Building 130A with the following schedule: immediately following the burial through 7pm (with mincha maariv at 5:15pm); Tuesday through Thursday 7:30am-12 noon (shacharit at at 7:30am) and 4-7pm (with mincha maariv at 5:15pm); Friday 7:30am-12 noon (shacharit at 7:30am); and Sunday (shacharit at 8am).
