Born in 1943, Phyllis was the loving and devoted daughter to the late Leon and Charlotte (Shapiro) Horwitz. She studied Medical Technology at Chamberlayne Junior College in Boston and spent her professional career as a histology technician at Malden Hospital and private tissue laboratories in Cambridge and Lexington. Since 1965, Phyllis was the beloved wife of Neil Berman and built a life together in Lexington. Phyllis leaves behind her husband Neil, daughter Leesa Mitchell of Burlington and son Marc Berman of Westwood, son-in-law John Mitchell, daughter-in-law Caitlin Hawes, and her beloved grandchildren, Mathew Mitchell, Amanda Mitchell, Jacob Berman, and Charlotte Berman.
Phyllis was a devoted wife, mother, and “Grandma” to her family and will be sincerely missed. She was a woman of many passions, loved to read, enjoyed meals at her favorite restaurants, looked forward to her vacations in North Conway, NH and York, ME, and routinely visited Foxwoods Resort & Casino with friends and family.
The family welcomes all relatives and friends to celebrate her life at the Stanetsky Memorial Chapel at 475 Washington Street in Canton on Sunday February 11, 2024 at 12:30pm with burial to follow at Sharon Memorial Park. Memorial Observance will be held at her home of last residence in Bedford on Sunday, February 11, 2024 from 3pm to 8pm and on Monday, February 12, 2024 from 4pm until 8pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
