Peter was born in Vienna, Austria, on September 20th, 1944. Surviving the inhumane conditions of displaced persons camps after WWII, Peter immigrated to the United States with his family in 1950, and settled in Southern New Jersey. Peter graduated from Vineland High School in Vineland NJ, and continued on to receive a B.S. in Landscape Architecture from Syracuse University as well as a degree from SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry. He also served in the United States military during the Vietnam War.
Peter was married to (the late) Carol Rodman on June 20th, 1975, in Boston, Massachusetts, and they were married for 35 years at time of Carol’s passing.
Peter was a Master Carpenter, and worked at The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts for over two decades. He was known for his attention to detail, craftsmanship, and talent for preservation & reconstruction of historical pieces. Peter also worked at the Brigham and Women’s hospital, and as an instructor of woodworking at the North Bennet Street School, located in the North End of Boston, in the late 1970’s and early 1980’s.
Peter is survived by his children Jessie-Sierra Ross and her husband Jonathan, Alexandra Roman, and Lucas Roman. Peter was also the loving grandfather to three grandsons - the joy of his senior years: Alexander, Benjamin, and Harrison Ross.
Peter is preceded in death by his beloved wife Carol, and his parents, John & Dina Serdiuk.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Jewish Family Services of Western Massachusetts in Springfield, Massachusetts, or The Wounded Warriors Project in Topeka, Kansas.
