With heavy hearts but profound gratitude for his amazing life, we announce the death of Morris “Mike” Dubin on January 20, 2025. He had just celebrated his 96th birthday, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on January 16, 1929, in Malden, Massachusetts, Mike, also called “Mayor”, enjoyed spending time with his childhood friends and thrived in school. As a teen, Mayor was well known in the neighborhood from his delivery routes, filling kitchen iceboxes with ice and groceries from his father’s store. Drafted into the U.S. Army during the Korean war, Mike was stationed in the occupied quarter of Germany as a radio engineer. A decorated private first class, Mike was honorably discharged in 1953. Mike was proudly the first of his family to attend college, starting at Bentley and later, after returning from the war, graduating from Boston University with a business degree.
Mike met and married his darling wife, Harriet (Berger), in 1967 and then settled in Brookline, Massachusetts. Mike spent most of his career as an accountant and office manager. He was a dedicated and meticulous man who continued working until his late seventies and driving into his nineties, but his joy always came from spending time with his family.
Mike is survived by his wife and best friend of 57 years, Harriet, and their cherished children, Cheryl Dubin Tutun (and her husband, Paul), and David (and his wife, Tammy). Mike was the adored grandfather of his four grandchildren, Emilia & Jack Tutun and Jacob & Emily Dubin. He was also a caring uncle to his many nephews.
Mike was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Charles and Esther Dubin, his older brothers, Frank and Saul, and his sister, Evelyn.
Services will be held privately. Memorial observance will take place from 2pm to 6pm on Friday, January 24, at the home of Cheryl and Paul Tutun in Weston.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mike’s honor to the charity of your choosing.
